For me, it's often several things, more touchy-feely than scientific. I like the way I feel when I walk the land or sit in a certain space. As John Denver wrote in Annie's Song, 'you fill up my senses.' Sight, Smell, Sound, Touch, Taste. I usually ask myself what it would be like to live there. And if I would want to? Is it a place where I could just be me, or would it be good for only a few months? Does the culture appeal to me? I fell in love with Ireland for these and many more reasons. The people are warm, gracious and fun-loving. They are also hard-working and proud. So naturally I wanted to set a couple of books there. I met Claire in EMBRACEABLE YOU (Book 2) and wondered how she got from Ireland to Maine. CLAIRE'S EMBRACE (Book 1), set in the 1960's, practically wrote itself. Then, in SECRET EMBRACE (Book 3), Claire's youngest daughter, Brianna, goes to Dublin to 'find herself' after a depressing divorce. She soon finds herself in love with Mitch and in trouble with his brother Jason. EMBRACEABLE YOU brings Sienna and Zach together in Claire's town in Maine. MYSTIQUE (Book 4) is one of those stories that sprung from the amazing Revolutionary War history along with a big 'what if' as Claire's oldest daughter Danika experiences a time-travel love affair with Will. They don't have to be read in order as each story stands on its own.
