Shake it up!

Some people feel that the beginning of school is like a new year. We're trained that way. The kids are off to a new start and so are we. What if this were the first day of your new job? What would you do differently? What would you do to make a difference? How would you be different?

Develop a plan.
I would be more organized. (My forever goal) There is a myth in my brain that if I were more organized, I could get more done. And that's my basic goal. To get more done. Don't know why but the older I get, the more I feel that urgency.

Be creative.
I would like to write something that makes a difference in someone's life. Something unique, profound, wise. And do it in a short form that everyone can access. Not only for the elite. Not so damn depressing that I (& my readers) want to run screaming into the woods. Something light, humorous, unwindable.

Be good to you.
Maybe all this is too much to ask of myself. Maybe escapism is enough. Because right now, that's what I want. Too many bad, sad, stupid, horrible, ugly things happening around me. Yes, the political noise is getting to me. And I want to getaway to love and respect and trust - maybe this stuff is only found in fiction….

The new me, on the first day on my new job, will write about a different world, create a story to sweep me away - and hopefully you, too. One you can curl up with and unwind.

So my Power of 3 in my new job is to be more organized, write or do something that makes a difference, and practice creativity.

In Mystique, my first time-travel story, my heroine takes her miserable life to extremes. She escapes by moving all the way across the country. Dani takes a new job, learns to become a different person and finds joy in loving beyond herself. Will is a hero of my heart. He escapes the boundaries of time to be with Dani. But he is an enigma...

What about you? What are you doing on the first day of your new job? What are you doing to make a difference? Or maybe you have other goals like slowing down, smelling more roses, traveling, reconnecting with an old friend. Or... Whatever.
Tell yourself what you intend to do. Think it. Write it. Do it. Start your journey today!
