Confessions of a writing sloth
End of January; time to refresh my resolutions list:
  • Write 6 books – only the ones with titles.
  • Explore ways to market Indie books.
  • Blog, FB, Twitter, Pinterest, blah, blah, blah…
  • Visit my kids, grandkids in CT, OR, & CA.
  • B'day dinner party for Bestie, coauthor Corazón Contento.
  • Host Bookclub. (read book) .
  • Attend U of A Basketball games – hoping for March Madness spot!
  • Play golf twice a week. Finish the last of 3 golf lessons. Add zoomba & yoga.
  • Plan far-away travel with my Gypsy Soulmate.
  • Learn new recipes, bake bread, write a story for my grand-girls.
  • Paint a landscape or sketch my cat.
  • Plant flowers. Pet cat. Enjoy Sunset Patio with dh.

Really? Just REALLY? Oh wait! Those are my INTENTIONS, not resolutions! It's what I want to do this year, intend to attempt. My friend laughs and tells me I need a staff to do all the stuff I want to do. (We've been watching too much Downton Abbey.)

My yoga teacher says gently, "What is your intention for today? This week, month, year? Be kind to yourself… Relax. Breathe into motion."

One of my sticky notes says: What you think about, you bring about.
I'll think on this… think about my characters begging for their stories, prioritize my list, make my choices.

Now I know my next book isn't going to write itself, and I don't have staff. (sigh) But for now I'm taking a deep breath. Sitting on Sunset Patio with my dh, watching the sun slip behind the Tucson Mountains giving us amazing postcard sunsets, sipping vino while my cat searching for lizards in the potted plants. Grateful for my life and choices.

This is my best intention today. I'll consider another intention tomorrow. I know. I need to set my priorities. Tomorrow. It's all good.

Note to self: scrap resolutions, stick to intentions.

What are your Intentions for the New Year? What's your best advice or am I beyond salvaging?
