 Advice and Consent – F-Words!

2/8/2017

Here it is February and I haven't made my concrete resolutions. Yet. I've been too busy traveling and enjoying my life. Which is not a bad thing at all. But, I feel like I'm stuck in transition. The writer in me is not satisfied. And I'm not getting any younger. I need to change it up and get busy!

I feel strongly in The Power of Three - mainly because I can't handle more than 3 issues at a time. And I need incentive to write that next book. Fast! So how?

First, consent. I have decided to rewind, re-evaluate, and reinvent a more resilient me. Someone who won't be crushed by rejection and will stand my ground. My story ideas matter in love relationships. My stories are as entertaining and impactful as murder and mayhem stories. My eBooks are as readable as print books. (In fact, some of them were/are in print.) I believe deeply that we need love now more than ever, and I'm committed to bring on the Love!

Second - advice. My honey and best advisor, says write it down. Most writers I know who are multi-producers have some sort of schedule, calendar, or list. Some have a detailed plan of action. To be honest, good intentions, (my last year's plan) are not enough. I just don't do it. But writing my plan gives me direction and obligation. So here goes.

Everything, including my loves, family and friends, falls under my
fiery f-words:
Focus - on the day or project, whether a scene I'm writing, birthday party for friends or family, or my golf swing. Fo-cuss !
Finish - what I start. Finish the damn thing, Mary!
Fun – while doing all of the above! (Especially with my friends and family)

I may even add Lindsey Vonn's 3 F-words: Fierce, Fearless, Fast! They get you moving!

Third - commitment. One scene a day. Enjoy love and life. Write it! I've learned that the consent part must come from within… within me.

What gets you going and keeps you on track?

Fierce and Fearless,
  Mary Tate
