What if…
Your father were a famous writer who
-       created interesting stories about people and a culture we knew little about and
-       created characters we can all relate to or learn from and then
-       left the stories and characters unfinished?

Would you pick up the strands and weave them into fascinating stories the world would continue to love?

Tony Hillerman was a boisterous man, always with a story to entertain a crowd and a huge laugh. He signed my copy of TALKING GOD with "For Mary – DO IT!"

Later he wrote a beautiful blurb for my non-fiction book, TALES FROM WIDE RUINS. Least you think that's big stuff, he laughingly called himself a "blurb slut" because so many authors requested his name on a book.

Tony died in 2008 and now his daughter, Anne has stepped into his giant shoes, taking over his Navajo detective stories with the first of three contracted books, SPIDERWOMAN'S DAUGHTER. Anne is a writer, editor and reporter with eight non-fiction books published. She is a quiet, serious woman with a passion for her father's stories and characters. In future books, she will tackle some critical issues on the rez like drugs, alcohol and domestic violence.

At first, I had my doubts. But now I'm thinking, Why not? Tony would probably tell his daughter, Do it! What do you think?
